Set in the United States through the 1920s and 1930s, the Hilton sisters struggle to gain their independence in a country that is only starting to grant rights to the average woman. We follow the twins journey from a dingy side show to vaudeville, all the way to their wedding day. In the final moments we discover what we have seen is a film of their life story.
Daisy and Violet Hilton both struggle against a world that sees them as nothing other than a freak-show to get what they have always wanted, for Daisy fame and adoring crowds, and for Violet a peaceful, normal life.
